September 15 Summer 2008Been a busy summer. Went to Mexico, visited Chichen Itza......Awesome
Went camping with Alex in the white mountains. Mom and Dad visited and we took them to Niagara falls
Worked on my Honda...See pictures
Finbished the basement March 02 RemissToday and for the period in between now and the last time I blogged, I have been mostly remiss in posting.
Lets see....Why would that be.
Reason 1 - I have been too busy
Reason 2 - I have been out of town in Puerto Rico
Reason 3 - The current Mrs Ward and the endless "honey do" list has taken priority
Reason 4 - The bloody snow...It keeps on a coming!
Reason 5 - The basement project. Currently I am working on finishing the stairs.
Reason 6 - A 50 inch Plasma. Funny how I have rediscovered TV January 03 Happy New Year!Today is the 3rd day of 2008. It is very cold here in New England. Just 3f this morning (-16c)......Now do you know what I mean when I say cold? December 31 More SnowToday, I have been mostly clearing snow......Again! The man on Fox 25 New this morning said that if Boston has one more inch of snow, then it will be a record.
I think last night fall put us at 36" (94cm) for the season so far, and we have another 3 months to go. Man this is gonna be a long winter.
Wishing everybody a happy new year!.... I have a curry to go cook. December 09 Painting!November 10 PackingToday, I have been mostly packing! For tomorrow I leave for Chicago for a week of binge drinking and steak eating, err I mean looking after my very best customers at my employers premier marketing event "Rockwell Automation Fair 2007" http://www.automationfair.com/ . Other than this monumental event in the "RA" calender, a pretty mundane week. More ceiling, more mudding, more work. Oh hum. Still watch out liver and kidneys, Wardy is coming to a bar near you! November 05 More ceiling!Today, I have been mostly installing ceiling tiles. Well I say "today", but it was actually yesterday.
Pats beat the Colts. Peyton was pissed! Ha ha. What I need now is the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup, The Pats to win the Superbowl (They could do it as they are unbeaten) and the Celts to win then Boston will be the best sports city in the World!
What has this to do with ceilings...... Nowt! I just felt like blowing Bostons trumpet. October 27 Removing the lalley columnToday, I am mostly removing a column!
The final major contruction activity was scheduled for today. I finally removed a lalley column from underneath the re-inforcing plates Kevin and I installed back in June.
Initially I cut the base of the steel column using an angle grinder with cutting disks. These columns are filled with concrete so after the metal cutting was completed, I set about breaking the concrete inside. This is where a trusty sledge hammer came in handy. Three or four swift clouts with that and the concrete sheared. I simply then swung the column out of the way. Now just by way of added insurance, I had a jack positioned close by, but the floor did not give a millimeter. All that was left to do was to grind out the stump which was actually better achieved using and air chisle. What fun! October 25 Installing ceilingsToday, I am mostly installing false ceilings!
I am making great leaps of progress in the completion of the ongoing basement project. After yet another investment at my freindly neighbourhood "Home Depot" I am busy installing the ceilings. October 24 Painting!Today, I am mostly painting
I have taken this week off as vacation in order to make some headway on finishing the basement project. So I have spent most of this week painting. I have done some more, ceiling and the lighting has been fully completed. In addition the witiring for the media equipment has been installed. I am surround sounded up! October 13 FlooringToday, I have been mostly flooring!
I an effort to make some progress, so that the current Mrs. Ward can empty the temporarily stored stuff oput of the garage before the onset of the ice age, I laid the laminate floor down to what will be our home gym. I toiled all day on my hands and knees with nobody but Radio 1 to keep me company. Good old Vernon Kay.
More tomorrow when I shall be hanging dropped ceilings. October 10 WorkingToday, I am mostly working!
I got up the crack of dawn. Dawn wasn't to impressed and told me to go home. Ha ha joke of the day.
That said, I spent the morning at a customers facility whereby I was mostly berated for being a bad partner. Oh well, all part of being a sales person I guess. Football practice tonight, where I shall freeze my ass off watching Alex effect his muscle on the "Grid Iron". Home briefly before I go to dinner with a colleague to discuss how not to get our ass chewed off tomorrow. October 08 SpendingToday, I am mostly spending!
Armed with my trusty home depot card, I will be taking a visit to the said "Home Improvement" store in order to increase my personal debt. While the plastic charge card is being obliterated beyond its limit, I will be happy in the knowledge that an extension to the limit will be added forthwith, allowing my spending to continue. Those bastards, they know I can't resist. Shiny new tools I must have, more dry wall, 2 by 4's and suspended ceiling stuff..... Its all there. October 07 Mudding, mudding mudding!Today, I am mostly mudding!
In an effort to make progress on the ongoing basement project, I have been mudding the drywalling around the french doors I installed in the basement |
